The Assamese community of Chicago is very proud of our four bright young students who have completed their high schools with glory and are ready to start another chapter of their lives - college.

  • Priya Barua - daughter of Bibhash and Deepika (Rani) Barua is joining Indiana University in Bloomington.
  • Bidula Sinha - daughter of Bitosh (Pompu) and Mala Sinha is joining Loyola University in Chicago.
  • Vikram Lal Barua - son of Gautam Lal and Enakshi Barua is joining University of Pennsylvania.
  • Sahil Angelo - son of Anil and Maytreyee Angelo (Mitu) is joining Boston University.

Meghna Kataky, daughter of Devajyoti and Monika Kataky of Woodbury, Minnesota will be graduating from Woodbury High School and attending Washington University in St. Louis starting Fall 2010 for her undergraduate studies.

Graduation: This is the time to celebrate graduation! We have three highly talented kids who have celebrated their High School graduation and ready to leave the nest for building a promising future.

  • Devaswa, daughter of Dwipen and Minakshi Bhagawati, has graduated from Skyline High School, Issaquah, WA. She will be attending the Smith College.
    Smith College is a private, independent women's liberal arts college located in Northampton, Massachusetts. It is the largest member of the Seven Sisters. Smith is also a member of the Five Colleges consortium, which allows its students to attend classes at four other Pioneer Valley institutions: Mount Holyoke College, Amherst College, Hampshire College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

We wish Devaswa a wonderful college life and excellence in the academics and in her usual extra curricular activities and help her achieve her dreams!

  • Soumya Chodhury graduated from Newport High School, Bellevue, WA. She has decided to attend the Occidental College in California, making her parents Rajiv and Joya Choudhury really proud.

Occidental has recently gained greater attention through President Barack Obama, who attended the college for two years from 1979-81 before transferring to Columbia University.

Our best wishes to Soumya in excelling in the academics and helping her get into a career of her choice!

  • Munin and Sujata Talukdar are very happy that they have raised their two sons well and could send them to good colleges. Their second son Subram graduated from Olympia high School, Olympia, WA. He will be attending the Case Western University.

Case Western Reserve University (also known as Case Western, Case, and CWRU "crew") is a private research university located in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The University is associated with 16 Nobel Laureates.

Congratulations to Subram and the proud parents. We wish Subram excellence in the academics and establish himself into a promising career!
