ADULT BIHU DANCE COMPETITION GUIDELINES
: 

  • Song Choice: Songs should be traditional Bihu songs. Lyrics must be appropriate for a family setting. The accompanying music may be live or pre-recorded. No extra points are awarded for dancing to live music.

  • Group size: The group size should be 4 or more.

  • Performance Time: Should not exceed 6 minutes. 

  • Costumes: Participants should wear ethnic Assamese Bihu outfit.

  • Performance: All team members must participate equally and must be well coordinated. In addition, the following aspects will be judged – liveliness of the overall performance, individual and overall contributions, facial expressions, use of props and creativity.
     

Note: Participants are strongly advised to bring one back-up copy of their track (if they are using one) on a USB drive.

  ASSAM MN KIDS CHORUS 2015 

KIDS CHORUS COMPETITION GUIDELINES

  • Song choice: Songs can be any Assamese song sung creatively as a chorus. 

  • Group size: The group size should be 4 or more.

  • Age:  5 years up to 12 years.
  • Performance Time: Length of the chorus should not exceed 4 minutes.

  • Setup & Dismissal: Maximum time allowed for  setup is <= 90 secand, teardown <=90 sec.

  • CostumeAny appropriate costume is acceptable as long as the participants appear to be part of a group.

  • Performance: All team members must participate equally and must be well coordinated.

ADULT CHORUS COMPETITION

  • Song choice: Songs choices are: JyotiXongeetRabhaXongeetBhupendraXongeetand any contemporary Assamese song that can be sung as a chorus. Lyrics must be appropriate for a family setting and must be age appropriate. 

  • Group size: The group size should be 4 or more.

  • Performance Time: Length of the chorus should not exceed 5 minutes.

  • Setup & Dismissal: If an act requires setup and teardown, maximum time allowed is <=90 seconds(set up) and <= 90 seconds (teardown).

  • CostumeAny appropriate costume is acceptable as long as the participants appear to be part of a group. Costume will bejudged.

  • Performance: All team members must participate equally and must be well coordinated. The group will be judged on diction, on their ability to remain in tune and maintain the pitch and correct rhythm throughout the song. In addition, the following aspects will be judged – liveliness of the overall performance, individual and overall contributions, gestures, voice quality. Singing from memory is preferred.

  • There will be point deduction for reading it from paper.

Cultural Program Guidelines for Children and Adults 

  • Cultural Registration must be via the online form:
    (http://aanahome.org/assam-convention/convention-2015/program/program-registration)
  • Song Choice: Could be Assamese, Hindi or English. Songs should be appropriate for a family setting.

  • Time: Length of a performance should not exceed 4 minutes for children 8 and below. Children 9 to 16 can go up to 5 to 8 minutes, but due to a very high volume of participants, we encourage to keep it under 6 minutes.

  • Multiple PerformancesDue to high number of participants, we encourage you to do 1 solo performance only. If you are planning to sing 2 or more songs within the same program, please list it under the "Description" section of the form, and the Cultural Committee will follow-up for approval.  However, the same performer can participate in another group program since we totally understand that we all love to perform.

  • Setup & Dismissal :  Set up time for song and dance is <=45 sec. For drama and skit, depending upon the scenario it could extend up to <= 3 min. Dismissal time <2min.

  • Audio FileAccompanied media file needs to be submitted (via http://goo.gl/FPbNRG) while registering online . (If your are not sure about your audio file at the time of registering, please make sure, you submit it later and follow-up with the Cultural Committee for confirmation).

  • Performance Audition:  All participants are requiredto submit their YouTube video links via the Cultural Registration form under the "Description" Category

  • Registration Follow-up: After you register, you will hear back from the Committee for confirmation of your registration within 1 to 2 weeks. The Committee will further review your application, and after all registrations are complete by (May 17), you will hear back from the Committee again about your program approval by early to mid June
