The 41st Assam Convention will be a Virtual Convention. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have had to cancel the in-person Assam Convention scheduled in Los Angeles, CA. However, after discussion among the Executive teams of AFNA, ASSNA and AANA we have decided to have our General Body Meetings online along with a youth program and a short cultural program to encourage and support a few promising artists from Assam.
Few young Assamese artists will perform in the cultural event of the Convention. Registration for the convention is required to view the live performance. You will be able to interact with the artist which will be fun and memorable. The Registration fee will help the artists in their new ventures.
We will also be hosting some panel discussions focusing on the development of our youth. So please invite your children to participate and get engaged in these interactive discussions.
We hope you and your families will join us to support the cause for the 41st Virtual Assam Convention and continue to gather with the same enthusiasm and spirit just like you would have done at Los Angeles. The best part is that anyone can join from anywhere and be part of this Assam Convention digitally and create beautiful memories of a mini Assam Convention from your living rooms. Please share our message and support this beautiful cause for our young talented artists in Assam.

ASSAM CONVENTION 2020 (@ LOS ANGELES) HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19
Dear All,
After much deliberation between the LA Host Committee & the AANA Executive & consultation with the AANA Board of Governors we have decided to cancel the Assam Convention 2020.
The uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic has made it impossible to plan the convention. There are uncertainties around guest artists visas, travel and safety. There are uncertainties around government restrictions on large gatherings. There are uncertainties around attendance numbers and safety of attendees. The health and safety of our members and other convention attendees is a priority and cannot be compromised.
We will monitor the status of the pandemic, discuss with ASSNA and AFNA executive and see if there is something else we can do once the situation improves.
Meanwhile, we are hoping the publication of the Luitor Pora Mississippi and the Directory will not be affected. If you have articles/poems in Assamese or English please forward them to ASSNA as per their directions.
I would like to thank the LA Host Committee for all the hard work they have put in over the past several months. It is a tremendous let down for them but they also see the need for taking this very hard decision.

We will keep you posted about the next convention once we have more information.
