- Nimisha & Geeti Das
My 7 year-old journal writer, as she enters her hotel room, brings in the spirit with a few crazy trampoline jumps on the bed, and the fun of course, doubles up as her younger brother joins in. In the next minute or so, she scoots towards the table corner to scribble a few lines. I did not want to miss the meet and greet going on at the hotel lobby. So as I kept reminding her – ‘Sweetheart, now it’s not the right time’, ‘We are leaving shortly for the Jalsa evening’, she hurriedly puts her pen down, and jumps right off her chair.
The next morning, I read her little note lying on the table, and slid it in my purse. I thought, if I wouldn’t have interrupted her, she may have had more to express. Few days later, when she saw the Marriott notepad back home, she screams: ‘Mommy, you are not allowed to bring this hotel book with you. It’s not right!’ I replied, ‘that’s okay, Nimisha. I just didn’t want your sweet story to be crumpled up in my purse, and this notepad kept it safe.’
