New office bearers were duly elected for the 2011-2013 term. Keeping with the tradition, the responsibility is entrusted to a couple, and Dr. Monoranjan Bezboruah and Mrs. Jharna Bezboruah took over as the President and the Vice President for the term.

General discussion also included as to the efficacy of beginning an effort to collect all our aphorisms and “sayings”, in which Assamese language can claim a place second to none! Dr. Surabhi Kakaty informed the meeting about the good news that “Dakar Basans” has been collected and printed recently. The meeting also discussed the efficacy of an effort to translate the living legend, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s songs and other writings into English so that the World outside can also share the nectar, and stand amazed at an artist’s agony and ecstacy in noting the common man’s struggle through life and living!
A vote of thanks was extended for the outgoing office bearers, and the meeting ended with the singing of Assam’s state song – O Mor Apoonar Desh!
