Rongali Bihu was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm on 24th April 2010 by the Greater Boston Assamese community. After weeks of intense preparation, the families gathered at a local community hall attired in their traditional colorful best. After some Bihu snacks consisting of til pitha, ladu and cakes etc, the crowd got into the mood right away.
The cultural program started with a chorus singing Bhupenda's inspirational "Jilikabo Luitore Paar". It was followed by a variety of songs and dances, from old Rafi songs to Bihu songs, the audience frequently calling for an encore. The kids, from three year olds to teens, put in some superlative performances of Assamese songs, Bihu dance, Bollywood dance numbers and Keyboard recitals.
