Rongali Bihu in Chicago
The Greater Chicago Assamese Community celebrated the Rongali Bihu with great enthusiasm on the 16th April. It was organized by Nayan Kashyap and his very efficient helpers. The evening started with meeting and greeting of more than 150 people. Besides Chicago land, many families came from Wisconsin, Indiana and Campaign, IL to attend this joyous festival. There were delicious pitha-pona, mah-proxad along with some Indian appetizers. The evening came alive with the beat of 'Dhol', songs and dances by adults as well as by children. The celebration ended with a sumptuous dinner. A Happy Assamese New Year to all of you.
