The Houston Assamese community gathered together on November 19th at the residence of Usha & Hiren Sarma and paid tribute to Late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika (Bhupenda). The event started with a Borgeet from Reema Das, followed by a number of Borgeets joined by everyone. Each person present spoke about his/her personal memories about meeting Bhupenda, both back home in Assam as well as during his many visits to North America. Everyone stood for a minute and prayed in silence with heavy hearts for his departed soul.
The somber occasion was filled with nostalgia, everyone singing Bhupenda's songs and was concluded with distribution of "mah-prasad", followed by light dinner.
